How To Get Half Price Cup Of Coffee
I always like to do math calculations when I see a bunch of sheeple buying their lattes and caramel machiatos at Starbucks. The going rate for a grande latte is over $3 with tax.
At least Starbucks coffee is not tracking with price of gas per gallon. Coffee used to track linear with gallon of gas. When gas was seventy five cents a gallon in the '90's, I could buy a decent cup of coffee at Peet's for about 6 bits or seventy five cents. With gas hovering around $4 per gallon in the Bay Area, coffee is a steal $2 a cup for regular black coffee. It's half price.
What is the big deal that drives people to line up 20 deep for sub-standard cup of coffee at Starbucks? Is is the neat white cup with the fancy green logo? Or is it the racy brown heat coaster? Starbucks and Louis Louis VUITTON should be thrown in the same trashy group of wannabes. Here is the perfect picture: A Starbucks grande latte carried in your left hand and the Louis Louis VUITTON purse clutched under your armpit. That is class!
I am a total coffee snob. If and when I go out for coffee, I will settle for a generic cup of joe at Micky D's over Starbucks any day. It's an unpretentious decent cup of coffee. I never said good. It gets the job done. Caffeine. Hot baby! Need I say more? It's not even sexy. Mickey D's is boring. Almost to the point of being embarrassing because this same place sells "Happy Meals". Do you feel happy after your kids have scarfed down a greasy slider with a side of fries and vanilla milk shake? This just about makes me cry! Get your coffee early before the happy meals come out.
Let's cut the crap. We all have our vices. Whether it's beer, wine, tea,or black coffee, we have 'em. Let's not say that we drink x for the taste. Take away the caffeine or alcohol and all of us would be drinking pomegranate or cranberry juice.
For the purest who really likes fresh roasted coffee, I salute you, for it does taste better. It's even cheaper than a cup of Xbucks. It's also about 1/10 the price for an excellent cup of coffee.
Want a free cup of coffee at Starbucks? Next time that you visit there, tell them that your last cup of coffee was terrible. You have to be totally honest. You would be lieing if you said that your last cup of coffee was good. More than likely, they will give you a free cup.

Trail Run To Monument Peak
Today we got to experience the most sunlight ever available for our run until next year because it's almost summer solstice. We hit the trail at 530 AM with no flashlights. It was just Andria and myself this morning. We had 2 cancellations again. This seems to be SOP for our little group of runners. Who can blame anyone for not showing up when we depart at 530 AM!We really did not have any big plans for our run this morning. I made the decision after being out for an hour to at least run to
the horse ranch. We ended up running all the way to Monument Peak in Milipitas. After running to Monument Peak, we ran another 2 miles and accented up Mission Peak. Both of our legs were tired but we decided to take advantage of the nice cool weather and put in a 3 hour run.Running with only 2 people really has some merits. Andria and I were able to see a very cute little fawn grazing in a small clearing along with 2 doe deer. Later we saw several more deer running through the woods. The big bonus for us was seeing a small pack of coyotes chasing their prey on a nearby hillside. With only 2 of us running we are usually very quiet and do not scare off the wild animals.
The weather was picture book perfect for a summer run. The skies were clear and it was nice and cool-in the 50's. As I have said many times before, there never is a bad day for a trail run. Never had a bad trail run and never will.
