The coffee experience

Have you ever wondered why coffee drinks savor the moment in a cup of coffee? Do we drink coffee for the caffeine buzz or is it something else? Personally, I think it is something else. Sure, I can go to Starbucks, 7-11, or McDonald's and a get a cup of reasonably good coffee with lots of caffeine. My something else is the complete coffee experience.

My cup of coffee first starts with the selection of carefully chosen green coffee beans. After my selection of green coffee beans, I perform my art on the bean by roasting them in my coffee roaster. I roast in micro batches-3 ounce more or less. Each batch tastes a little different. That is why I can say that each batch is a masterpiece.

Next comes the brewing. This is my favorite part. It is the moment of anticipation. Do you remember the old drip machines that allowed you to sneak a cup before it was done? The first cup was always the best because it was fresh! I always get the first cup because I only brew in small batches.

I use 2 tablespoons of ground coffee for every 6 ounces of filtered water. I use either a Bodum French press or cone filter drip. I heat the water to boiling and let it sit for about 30 seconds to cool. Aah the aroma! I am even particular about the spoon that I stir my coffee with as it is brewing. Why? Because I can and it is kind of fun. I use a small decorative tea spoon.

Do you like your coffee hot? Me too. I use a stainless steel vacuum cup to keep my coffee warm.

After this, I savor the next hour with relaxing music, a good book, and my master peice cup of coffee.
